Turtle Odyssey is a delightful action game, suitable for all ages, developed by Realore. The game can be gamed in browser or downloaded for the full experience.
Ozzy the Turtle is on a quest to make his underwater home safe from all sorts of aquatic issues. The player is the turtle and must complete tasks and collect objects in order to achieve his or her aims.
Ozzy must explore the ocean floor, using the left and right buttons to move and the spacebar to jump. Coins are collected for extra points, and a certain number of jewels must be collected in order to complete the level. A useful arrow directs the player when a jewel is very close, which is useful as it would be easy to miss an out-of-the-way jewel and have to spend time re-searching the entire level to find it.
There are other bonus objects to collect too, but these are laid out with certain obstacles to be avoided to, such as bottles of liquid that turns out to be poison – but the only way to find this out is by collecting the first one!
There are over fifty levels and four tough sea enemies for Ozzy to defeat, with special power-ups, bonuses and gifts being unlocked as the game progresses. After each level the player can spin the wheel to win a random prize.
Ozzy is a cute character and the game has the very faint feel of an early Mario Bros browser game. This makes it ideal for younger, unsophisticated players, but older player are unlikely to be enthralled or challenged for long. The online browser version is quite slow and the controls show a slight delay, enough for moving jumps to miss their target on occasion.
- Simple action game
- Cute characters and objects to collect
- Easy to play
- Nothing new
- Graphics not great in the online version (they are better in the full download)
